A Hidden Treasure in Calontir: The Calontiri Wiki!

“The palest ink is better than the best memory.”
Chinese proverb, popular long before the 17th century

Have you ever wished there was one place to find the who’s who? What about finding out what’s what in the Kingdom of Calontir? Do you want to know how-to-do-it there? Let me introduce you to one of Calontir’s best-kept open secrets: the Calontiri Wiki!

This delightful online trove is part scrapbook, part encyclopedia, part love letter to our kingdom. It’s packed with information created by Calontiri, for Calontiri. Want to look up someone’s persona? Curious about a guild or award order? Need to find song lyrics or a bit of event history? The Wiki has you covered.

These wonderful shields would make perfect specimens to list on a personal Wiki page.
Why you’ll love it:

There are many ways the Calontiri Wiki is helpful. And many I haven’t discovered yet.

Find Familiar Faces: Learn about fellow members, their personas, and their crafts. You might even learn how to spell their SCA names correctly!

Celebrate Our Calontir History: Relive the glory days of past Lilies Wars. See who reigned when. Chuckle at inside jokes only a Falcon would understand.

Show Off Your Skills: Want a digital place to brag about your latest project, persona deep dive, or award scroll? Make yourself a page!

Stay Connected: It’s a great way to bridge the distance between events. Whether you’re a longtime Laurel or brand-new to the Dream, this is a place to share, explore, and connect.

You might be part of a hughe project like the Calontir Lilies War Great Wheel (thank you M. Gerald Goodwine). That would make a fine specimen for the wiki.

The Great Wheel isn’t part of Lilies War any more, but its information could be.
How about a few useful options?

For Scribes: Imagine you’re assigned a scroll for someone you’ve never met. If they’ve filled out their wiki page, you might find their persona, colors, favorite things, and awards—all in one place. Instant inspiration!

For Peers Planning Ceremonies: Maybe your protégé-to-be isn’t connected to any peers. Their wiki page can offer insights to help craft a meaningful, personalized elevation ceremony.

For Newcomers: Want to know who’s in your local group? Or which people are part of that fun household you saw at an event? The wiki can help you put names to faces and find your people faster.

Peer Associates: I highly recommend you have a page and keep it current. Your peer’s friends might want to know more about you.

Those are just four ways I have looked for wiki pages. I’m sure there are more.

Just one tiny catch…

It only works if we actually use it! So consider this your gentle nudge: if you haven’t made a wiki page yet, now’s the time. If yours hasn’t been updated since the reign of King Lucian I, consider refreshing it a bit.

Curious what a great wiki page looks like?

If your curious, check out the pages for any of Calontir’s Masters of Defense! Just copy their name from the official Calontir website and paste it into the search square of the unofficial Wiki. Several members have detailed wiki pages that showcase their persona and SCA resume. The pages highlight their accomplishments and leave breadcrumbs for future scribes, ceremony planners, and curious newcomers.

Using the Calontiri Wiki is like flipping through a well-organized book of living history. The pages can keep growing, and nobody will yell at you for turning them with sticky fingers.

Getting started is easier than sewing on M. Drx’s trim straight. Head to calontiri.info and follow your curiosity. You just might fall down a delightful rabbit hole of Calontiri lore.

The Calontiri Wiki: It’s our collective memory—and you’re part of it.
