WIP Wednesday: Rekindling My Passion for Medieval Illumination
It’s time for another WIP Wednesday! I’ve been working on a preprint that’s brought me so much joy this week. One I planned to turn in at last Saturday’s Mag Mor’s Cattle Raids event. But I wasn’t able to attend it due to a foot injury. I am happy to report that because of that preprint I’ve rediscovered my passion for illumination!

At the last Lonely Tower scribal gathering—our beloved “Scriptorium”—I took home a preprint award scroll, and guess what? I finished it! While I was’t able to take it to that event, I’m thrilled with the progress I made creating it. It’s been so encouraging to see that, even with the challenges my neuropathy and presbyopia throw at me, I can still create beautiful work. Some of those old techniques I’d tucked away have resurfaced as if they were waiting for me to pick up my brush again.
This project was a reminder that I just need to embrace my current limits and focus on what I can do. It’s been a fulfilling journey so far, and I’m excited to see what I dream up for next week’s Work In Progress Wednesday!
