Like so many others across the Knowne World, I’ve been following the news of the devastating flash floods that recently struck parts of Ansteorra. The sorrow I feel for those affected by this disaster is immense. This includes both individuals within the SCA and those in your wider communities.
I wanted to take a moment to let you know that you are not alone. All across the kingdoms, people are thinking of you. They hold you close in their hearts and are sending wishes for your safety, strength, and recovery.
The SCA is, at its core, about more than just events, garb, and arts—we are a community. And when one part of our community hurts, we all feel it. I’ve witnessed time and again how our Society comes together when disaster strikes, offering support in many ways. We also provide help in small ways. I have no doubt that the people of Ansteorra, known for your fierce pride and warm hospitality, will find your way through this hardship. You will do so with the same courage and resilience that has shaped your kingdom for many years.
For those who have suffered loss—of homes, property, or worse—my heart goes out to you. Please take the time you need to heal. Know that your friends across the SCA stand ready to help however we can. For those offering aid, you show the true spirit of our community. This can happen by opening your homes, offering supplies, or simply listening with kindness. You remind us all of what makes this community special.
I look forward to the day when Ansteorra’s fields are once again filled with laughter and pageantry and the sound of swords clashing in friendly combat. Until then, I send you strength, hope, and heartfelt wishes for brighter days ahead.
