Furry Friends and Medieval Fun: My Day at Lonely Tower’s RUSH Event

Hey there, fellow adventurers! Let me fill you in on what went down recently while I was juggling medical appointments and budgeting blues. So, while I was caught up with life stuff, something pretty cool was happening at my Barony of the Lonely Tower.

Picture this: a day filled with camping wisdom and medieval vibes. Yep, that’s right! My baronial friends hosted a weekend of classes, some archery, fighting and did I mention learning of all things SCA camping. All part of Calontir’s Royal University of Scir-Hafoc (RUSH). From pitching tents and camping with kids to camp cooking and actual historical hacks, they covered it all.

Now, I may not have been in the spotlight, but I did play a little role as the go-to person for those looking to peddle their wares at the event. So Friday evening, I popped over to the site to ensure everything was A-okay for the lone merchant setting up shop the next day.

But here’s where the fun really kicks in. Saturday rolls around, and guess who decides to tag along? None other than my furry companion, Pippa! Since the venue wasn’t exactly plush like a fancy church, I figured why not bring her along for the ride?

And boy, did we have a blast! Pippa and I soaked up the fun, caught up with pals, and generally had a grand ol’ time. The weather couldn’t have been better, either. Whenever folks took a breather for lunch or during Baron Charles and Baroness Kathleen’s honor court, Pippa chilled in the car, enjoying her own little retreat.

By the time the event wound down and court was adjourned, Pippa was all tuckered out and more than ready for the cozy ride home—a smooth 45-minute cruise back to our humble abode.

So, there you have it—a day filled with learning, laughter, and a loyal pup by my side. Until next time, SCA adventure awaits!
