Embrace Curiosity: Reflections for the New Year
As the year turns, I’ve been reflecting on my writing life. My interests have expanded right along with it. It has grown significantly. Initially, I was only writing about my persona’s time and its topics. Adding Qigong to the mix gently encouraged me to look more closely at the world I move through.
This world includes the food court where I take my mall walks. It also includes the little merchants with bright new flavors and even brighter personalities. It’s the same spark of curiosity that prompted me to write about the quinceañera dresses at the mall. They were suddenly within reach and too beautiful to ignore.
What I’ve realized is this: my blog shifts because I do. Each year brings new fascinations, new questions, and new joys, and I follow them the way an itinerant scribe follows the road ahead. I wander, I notice, I learn, and I let curiosity lead the way.
As we step into a brand-new year, I’m grateful for that wandering mind of mine—it has carried me into unexpected delights, meaningful conversations, and moments of quiet wonder. A wandering mind is a terrible thing to waste, and mine is already packing its bags for the adventures to come.
Here’s to our shared 2026 new year, and to following the threads of delight wherever they lead.
