Easy Peasy Google Docs Sharing for Your SCA Papers
Hey all. Recently at Lonely Tower’s Scriptorium, HL Aleit and I were chatting about my upcoming class on medieval color palettes. She mentioned she could get the rather large handout printed for free. That would be great, but I had a lightbulb moment and said, “Hey, I have it on Google Docs! I can just share the link with the scribes, and they can print it if they want.” That got me thinking: not everyone teaching classes in the SCA might know about the magic of Google Docs link sharing. So, here’s a quick rundown!
Sharing a Google Doc is super easy and makes collaboration a breeze. Whether you have a class handout, an event proposal, or sharing your favorite medieval recipe. Google Docs lets you share your document with anyone, anywhere. (Oops! Didn’t mean to sound like a sales person.)
Anyway, here’s how you do it:
After creating your paper in Google Docs, open the document you want to share.
Look for the blue “Share” button in the top right corner of the screen and click it.
Be sure to set permissions for the level of access you want to give each person. You can let them view, comment, or edit the document. Setting the right permissions ensures your document is handled just the way you want. You can include a message to give some context about your document. But that’s optional. Once everything is set, click “Send.”
Not only would this save you money, but it’s also eco-friendly. Some folks might prefer to view the document on their device instead of printing it out, which saves trees and saves them money, too.
So, next time you’re prepping for a class or project, give Google Docs a try and share the love with a link! As to links, here’s one that gives you more details about this.
Hope this helps. Do you have any tips to save SCAdians’ money or the planet’s trees? Let us know in the comments. We can share more than links.
