Unleash Your Inner Artist at Lonely Tower’s Scriptorium

Exciting Changes in Lonely Tower’s Scriptorium!

We have some delightful news to share with you today. The esteemed Barony of Lonely Tower has welcomed a new Baron and Baroness, Charles von Strausberg and Kathleen of Stonehaven. Their arrival during this year’s Lilies War has brought forth a wave of inspiration and exciting ideas for our creative community.

One of the remarkable initiatives that Their Excellencies have requested the designing and painting of preprints for the awards they present. This means that the talented scribes of Lonely Tower will now have the opportunity to showcase their skills and utilize the techniques they’ve acquired and add more in our future gatherings.

Thanks to the kindness of our beloved former Baroness, Aleit de la Thomme, the monthly Scriptorium is set to make a joyous return! Aleit has graciously offered to host these gatherings at her residence (formerly I held them), creating a warm and inviting space for all of us to come together and indulge in our shared passion.

For those who are not familiar, a Scriptorium is an informal meeting of scribes where we can unite as calligraphers, illuminators, preprint artisans, and wordsmiths. It’s a haven where camaraderie flourishes, and artistic expressions come to life. No matter your level of expertise, whether you’re a seasoned scribal Laurel like M. Rolf or just starting out on your creative journey, you are wholeheartedly welcome.

Beginning on Sunday, June 25, the Barony of Lonely Tower’s Scriptorium will convene at Aleit’s residence, offering a consistent space for us to gather. We will continue to meet on a monthly basis, just as we did for our previous classes.

The first gatherings will be filled with Open Project sessions allowing you the freedom to work on personal projects or preprint awards like those to the left. And now, with the added excitement, scroll assignments may include requests from the Barony itself. There is room for everyone to learn, practice, and explore their artistic inclinations, even indulge in the calm, mindful art of zen-doodling.

In the spirit of fostering an environment of trust and mystery, we kindly remind everyone to conceal any identifying elements on assigned scrolls. Using low-tac tape or a discreet sticky note will help maintain the utmost secrecy, as scroll assignments are kept confidential even among our fellow scribes. Let’s keep the secret, shall we?

If you’re fortunate enough to be in close proximity, we extend a warm invitation to join us in our quest to create visual splendor. Let’s come together to engage in light-hearted conversations about ink, paint, or the captivating art of scroll text writing. The Scriptorium is a place where friendships are forged, ideas are exchanged, and inspiration flows freely. Remember, the more, the merrier!

As we eagerly look forward to the first gathering of Lonely Tower’s Scriptorium, we wish you boundless inspiration and joyous moments of artistic discovery. Embrace your creativity, and let your imagination take flight!
