Welcome to An Itinerant Scribe
Where history, creativity, movement, and community meet.
Step inside and make yourself at home. This space is where my worlds mash up. You will find my thoughts on historical research in one post and artificial intelligence ethics in another. Ancient craft how-to next to Qigong and Tai Chi routines. I share the everyday (and not-so-everyday) adventures of SCA life.

I’m Jehanne Bening—former scribe, Laurel, lifelong crafter, and contented wanderer of ideas, manuscripts, and coffee shops. Li Zhenyan is my current historical persona, built from documented Ming dynasty practices and grounded in primary and secondary research.
My SCA journey winds through the quiet corners of medieval workshops and the daily life of Chinese healer, and flows through the lively gatherings of the Barony of the Lonely Tower. Additionally, I enjoy the gentle movement of Qigong forms now practiced with friends in the Society for Creative Anachronism. Some days it’s simply about the comfort of writing with my mini dachshund Inka near by.
Whether you’ve come for manuscripts, Chinese SCA persona, SCA event stories or historic movement arts, you are welcome here. If you are simply here to enjoy the journey, you are welcome here, Whatever your reason you are welcome here.
